Buhari escapes Kaduna blast, three aides injured

General Muhammadu Buhari was almost killed in the second bomb explosion that rocked Kaduna town this afternoon in which more than 20 persons were killed.
The opposition leader Muhammadu Buhari was the target of the second bomb attack in the northern city of Kaduna on Wednesday but escaped unhurt, an official said.

Buhari, who also led Nigeria as a military head of state in the 1980s, “was the target” of the bombing in the Kawo area of the city, said Ahmed Maiyaki, the spokesman for Kaduna’s governor.
Eye witnesses said the attack had targeted former Head of State and opposition leader, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
Two vehicles in the convoy of the All Progressives Party (APC) chieftain were burnt in the blast.
The commissioner confirmed that Buhari was passing through the road when the blast occurred, but was not sure if the politician was “the main target”.

He is among the favourites to emerge as the APC’s presidential candidate in polls set for next year.
Boko Haram Islamists, who have been blamed for the twin bombings in Kaduna on Wednesday that killed at least 42 people, have made direct threats on Buhari’s life.
Islamist leader Abubakar Shekau has branded him a traitor to Islam for accepting democratic rule.
